#73 Nate Potter OT/G, Boise State
6-6, 300
2009 and 2010 1st Team All-WAC
2010 3rd Team All-America
2008-2010 All-WAC Academic Teams
2008: 8 starts (3 at LT and 5 at RT)
2009: 8 starts at left tackle
2010: 13 starts at left tackle
2011:
- Has trouble with speed rushers: his feet looked slow getting out to protect the edge and prevent the speed rusher from getting around the corner.
- Didn’t show a lot of power in the run game, but still has almost adequate strength.
- Doesn’t look like he has a strong lower half (enough sand in the pants).
- Has pretty good awareness and recognizes stunts well.
- We’ll have to wait until the combine to see how long his arms are, but his initial punch didn’t look effective and he allowed defenders to get into his body too often.
- Will have to move to right tackle or most likely guard in NFL.
- Needs to improve his footwork.
- Prior to 2010 season when Boise coaches planned to move him to guard, Potter watched film of NFL guards to learn how to play in tight spaces.
- Needs to improve knee bend
