It’s prospect season again. I’ve had my rankings listed on team pages, but have been horrible about keeping those up to date. As I mentioned on the pages, I’m looking at other rankings when I make mine (along with scouting reports and my own opinion). Next up, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
For the top 20, I’ve listed them according to my ranking. I’ve also listed the rankings of other sites that have Top XX lists (they range from 5 until 40, depending on the site). Then the average rankings is of all of the rankings (mine and the listed ones); the overall rank follows the average.

The Angels have a lot of guys that need to put it together – Clark, Bolden – after a solid core of players. There is no doubt about Mike Trout; he’s a legit stud (I’m going back on my hesitation from last year and found it misplaced; the Angels have had problems transitioning top prospects to the Majors, but Trout is different). Segura is one of the better shortstop prospects right now. I like Cowart, Cron, Hellwig, and Richards and think all could be Top 100 candidates next year with good seasons.
Now, I have the system weakness as the infield, but that is due to lack of solid depth. Each position has 1 pretty good player (1B Cron, 2B Lindsey and Amarista, 3B Cowart, SS Segura), but the system doesn’t have much behind them. There are systems that have much more glaring weaknesses.
