2012 NFL Draft Preview: New England Patriots

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Position needs before the draft: RB, interior OL, pass rusher, CB, S

Notable Additions:
Spencer Larson FB, Broncos
Brandon Lloyd WR, Broncos
Donte Stallworth WR, Eagles
Anthony Gonzalez WR, Colts
Robert Gallery OG, Seahawks
Jonathan Fanene DE, Bengals
Trevor Scott LB, Raiders
Will Allen CB, Dolphins
Steve Gregory S, Chargers

Notable Losses:
BenJarvus Green-Ellis RB, Bengals
Matt Light OT, retired
Mark Anderson DE, Bills
Gary Guyton LB, Dolphins

5 First round possibilities:
Michael Brockers DL, LSU
– Where will Brockers land? I think the Pats could trade anywhere they wanted to in order to take him. He’s been graded from a top 10 pick to the late first.

Shea McClellin OLB, Boise State – A lot of teams are in love with Shea at the end of round one.

Harrison Smith S, Notre Dame – The Pats signed Steve Gregory, but they need as much competition in the back end as they can.

Nick Perry DE/OLB, USC – Pass rusher is a need the Pats should address in the draft.

Ronnell Lewis OLB, Oklahoma – The Patriots interviewed him at the combine and brought him in for a facility visit. He’s more of a second round prospect for me, but if the Pats love him, he could go at number 31.
