After skipping the minors and shining for the Cincinnati Reds for the first half, Mike Leake might be done for the season. He’s not injured; it’s just the Reds are worried about his workload.
Leake has thrown 138.1 innings this year, second to last year when he threw 161.2 innings between Arizona State and the Arizona Fall League. He was moved to the bullpen August 14th to limit his innings, but he’s struggled with the demotion.
His spot could be taken by Aaron Harang, who’s about to start a rehab assignment but could be in the bullpen, or Matt Maloney, who’s currently at Triple-A.
