I wanted to mainly focus on some smaller, lesser-known football schools for this list. Players like Illinois’ AJ Jenkins and Vanderbilt’s Casey Hayward would be on this list, too.
Derek Wolfe DT, Cincinnati (teams showing interest: Ravens, Cowboys, Texans, Patriots, Steelers)
Drafted by Broncos 2nd round, 36th overall
Look at all the 3-4 teams that are interested in him. Wolfe’s 6-5, 295 and showed a lot of versatility while at Cincinnati, playing even at nose tackle sometimes. He’s going to be an end in the 3-4 and his hustle, consistency, and technique have impressed the above teams quite a bit. He’s a third rounder, but don’t be surprised to see him taken late in the second by any of the above teams.
Marvin Jones WR, California (teams showing interest: none that I could find reported)
Drafted by Bengals 5th round, 166th overall
When I watched Jones’ games, I saw a lot of impressive catches. Not only that, but he showed very good body control and was a good blocker downfield.
Leonard Johnson CB, Iowa State (teams showing interest: Cardinals, Panthers)
Undrafted by Buccaneers
Johnson made a name for himself by doing very well against good wide receivers, namely Justin Blackmon. Blackmon said that Johnson was, “the most physical corner I’ve faced this (2011) season.” He had a horrible 40 time (4.71) and vertical (32.0) at the combine, but never mind the measurables. I think this guy’s going to be a steal.
Justin Bethel DB, Presbyterian (teams showing interest: Ravens, Browns, Texans, Jaguars, Saints, Buccaneers)
Drafted by Cardinals Round 6, 177th overall
Bethel is a very athletic and intriguing prospect. He’s got the size teams look for in a corner at 6-0, has an insane vertical leap, and has had some interest from teams. He’s a mid to late round prospect, but you know Gene Smith, GM of the Jaguars, he loves small school guys. Bethel was Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Ronald Leary OG, Memphis (teams showing interest: Panthers, Bears, Cowboys, Jaguars, Jets, Rams)
Undrafted Dallas Cowboys
While Dontari Poe is getting all of the attention, Leary is the forgotten prospect from Memphis. He’s been receiving a good deal of interest and could be taken as early as the third round.
Derek Carrier TE, Beloit (teams showing interest: Raiders, Seahawks)
Undrafted to Raiders
Beloit has garnered some interest from the above teams, but I’m sure there’s more teams that have been more secretive about their interest in him.
Gino Gradkowski OL, Delaware (teams showing interest: Ravens, Packers, Colts, Jaguars, Eagles, Titans)
Drafted by Ravens, 4th Round, 186th overall
Yes, he’s Bruce Gradkowski’s brother. Gino has a solid chance at going in the middle rounds after some solid workouts in front of teams. He was a 2011 FCS All-American.
Adrien Robinson TE, Cincinnati (teams showing interest: Falcons, Bears, Colts, Jaguars, Dolphins, Patriots, Giants, Steelers, Seahawks)
Drafted by Giants, 4th Round, 127th overall
Robinson is the type of prospect that Jimmy Graham was when he was coming out in 2010. He’s very athletic, with great size and is a mid-round prospect.
Cody Pearcy WR, Huntingdon (teams showing interest: Falcons, Colts, Jaguars, Dolphins, Patriots, Saints, Giants, Jets, Eagles, Seahawks)
Undrafted to Falcons
Pearcy is a huge workout warrior and wowed scouts at his pro day.
Travaris Cadet RB, Appalachian State (teams showing interest: Ravens, Bills, Browns, Cowboys, Packers, Dolphins, Patriots, Saints, 49ers, Seahawks, Buccaneers, Titans)
Undrafted to Saints
Cadet has received a lot of interest and could be taken really late. He was a versatile player for the Mountaineers.
