Oakland continues their impressive climb up the rankings. 10 weeks ago they ranked #18 and they were at #26 13 weeks ago. They, along with division rival Rangers, have one of the most balanced ranking breakout in the league.

Here are this weeks power rankings, a day late due to Labor Day. The Nationals are out of the top spot. The Astros are still looking at the first overall pick. Some prospects have been promoted.

While the Washington Nationals are atop the rankings, will they be able to maintain it? Ace Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to be shut down with 3 starts remaining in the season, plus the post-season. While they have solid pitching behind him, it would scare teams more seeing him in a Game 1 (and potentially Game 5) of a series than Gio Gonzalez or Jordan Zimmerman. This should be an interesting pennant race.
The power rankings are composed from weighed scores of Record, Run Differential, and Farm System. The record carries the most weight while the farm system carries the least.

Here is the first full GM score table; this will be the new format (at least until I get another way to improve them). I’m going to do this for all active GMs with all of their moves and the WAR they produced. This will be updated after each season. Eventually I’ll be adding scores for each GM to be able to compare them to other GMs. First up is Jeff Luhnow of the Astros.
