Ozzie Guillen to the Marlins; Costs 2 Prospects
The Florida Marlins wasted no time in replacing the retiring Jack McKeon; they have signed Ozzie Guillen to a rumored 4-year deal. Guillen will lead the Marlins into their new stadium next year.
Now, this isn’t a cut and dry signing.
The White Sox released Guillen from his contract Monday, but they retained the right to receive compensation if Guillen were to sign with another team (say, the Marlins, which has been rumored for years). The White Sox will received RHP Jhan Marinez and SS Osvaldo Martinez as compensation.
