We all know from reading numerous analyses that the Reds probably have the upper hand in the NL Central. The Cardinals rotation is a bit of a question mark, and the Cardinals lost Chris Carpenter, Rafael Furcal, and perhaps their closer (how long will Jason Motte be out? I don’t know if I want to know the answer). But let’s compare the two teams position by position, and try and see why the Reds are the team to beat.

Evaluating MLB Top Players With Projection Systems (pt3)
Apologies for my last ranking, it had omitted a lot of players that showed that I was not paying too much attention. It was however just a preliminary ranking, and the reason for not including players like Joey Votto and Matt Kemp is that they did not have as many plate appearances and therefore did not qualify for the top producers list I was looking at for last season.
To add to the quandary, I had just typed out a lengthy article and I am now writing it again, since the site had logged me out without me realizing it. Never leave your tabs open for too long, I suppose is the lesson…and pay attention!

MLB Preview – Cincinnati Reds
2011 Review:
The line up wasn’t the problem for the Reds in 2011, it was the pitching. The biggest problem was consistency; Edinson Volquez had none, Travis Wood started without it, and Aroldis Chapman is still looking for his. Add in injury problems for Johnny Cueto, Homer Bailey, and Bronson Arroyo didn’t help matters.
