I’ve had a request to look at the impact of not signing a player in the first 10 rounds will impact a team and it’s bonus pool.
The deadline to sign draftees is Friday, and there are currently 21 players that haven’t signed yet (pick 210 Kurt Heyer signed with the Cardinals this morning). This includes 6 players in the first round that are in line for large bonuses.

I thought my mock was solid around pick 7, then it all went down hill. The Astros led the surprised by taking Carlos Correa with the first overall pick; Jeff Luhnow had a history of building a system by picking low upside, low risk college players. He’s definitely changed course with the new organization.

The MLB Draft is tonight and here is my final mock draft. It’s pretty much been written that the Pirates are taking Gerrit Cole first over all; I’m convinced of it as well. After that, there are many question marks. Will Danny Hultzen’s contract demands really cause him to fall? Will the Royals stick with their commitment to be more active in the area draft prospects, like Bubba Starling? Will the D’backs, Padres, and Brewers play it safe with their un-protected picks?
