Win and you get a contract extension and everyone loves you. Lose once, you better have a reason. Lose again, and in most cases you won’t get a third time. The NFL is win now or else… So welcome to the NFL (Not For Long) no long range rebuilding plans allowed. Win make the owners happy. Lose and, well, get the moving van we leaving …

NFL Hot Seat 2012
November in the NFL usually brings around change. Playoff teams begin to emerge while teams on the outside looking in begin to change out coaches, general managers, and other team personnel. Let’s take a look at my opinion of who is the hot seat in the National Football League in tiers:
Likely Out At Season’s End
Pat Shurmur, Cleveland Browns: It’s very hard to make a case for keeping a coach that is just 6-19 in a season and a half on the job to begin with. Continue reading

The Heat Seat

NFC Postseason Selections
1) Green Bay Packers (13-3)
After winning the Super Bowl with 15 players on the IR (and despite losing two more in the big game), the Packers had an entire offseason to get healthy and are deeper and more talented than the team that cruised through the postseason last year. There’s little holding them back: they have the NFL’s best QB, a talented receiving corps, an improved run game and an aggressive, effective defense. Though repeating as Super Bowl champs will be difficult, there’s no reason to believe the Packers won’t win their division and earn the conference’s top seed. They’re just too talented.
