NFL Preview III: Postseason Selections

In Part I of this NFL preview, I told you which players are at the tops of the QB, running back and receiver position.  In Part II, you got a thought on each of the NFL’s 32 teams.  Part III, we get to the good part:  who will make the playoffs and why.  Stay tuned for part IV tomorrow.

NFC Postseason Selections

1) Green Bay Packers (13-3)

After winning the Super Bowl with 15 players on the IR (and despite losing two more in the big game), the Packers had an entire offseason to get healthy and are deeper and more talented than the team that cruised through the postseason last year.  There’s little holding them back:  they have the NFL’s best QB, a talented receiving corps, an improved run game and an aggressive, effective defense.  Though repeating as Super Bowl champs will be difficult, there’s no reason to believe the Packers won’t win their division and earn the conference’s top seed.  They’re just too talented. 2010 NFL Week 15 Power Rankings – 12/14/2010

1.       New England Patriots (11-2) – The Bears were the latest victim of the league’s best team. The Pats dominated the Bears from the start in snowy conditions at Soldier Field. Tom Brady threw for 369 yards and two touchdowns in the 36-7 rout. The Patriots scored all but seven of their points in the first half and didn’t allow the Bears to score until they were done scoring themselves. Deion Branch and Wes Welker both had over 100 yards receiving and the Pats look like they have total control of the top seed in the AFC for the playoffs.

2010 NFL Week 13 Power Rankings – 11/30/2010

1.       New England Patriots (9-2) – Tom Brady scored a perfect QB rating while throwing four touchdowns, no picks, and 341 yards in the annual “Thanksgiving Day Stuffing of Detroit.” Deion Branch only had three receptions, but they were all big and he finished with 113 yards and two scores. They remain my number one team in the league and will be the team to beat in the AFC.

2010 Week 12 NFL Power Rankings – 11/23/2010

1.       New England Patriots (8-2) – I was listening to 101 ESPN in St. Louis on the drive home on Friday and the guys were talking about who they’d rather have for a two minute drill, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. They unanimously picked Manning. You’re kidding me. Unfortunately, I couldn’t text in because I was driving, but I was just disgusted. I think they were still upset about Tom Brady beating the Rams in the Super Bowl. I think Mr. Brady proved his worth over Manning against the Colts.
