GM Score – Sandy Alderson (Mets Only)
So, it’s been a while since I’ve done a GM score. It’s not from lack of time; it’s from more from lack of approval. I wasn’t crazy about my scoring. The main problem was there was a little more to the roster that the GM has impact on than just the moves. One example is keeping a player from a previous GM; Alderson is a prime example since he pretty much took over a roster that was already in place.
Secondly, moves (or lack there of) can have various impacts from year to year. Dan Murphy was worth 1.9 WAR in 2011, but didn’t play in the majors in 2010; that doesn’t reflect in a normal score. Also, injuries impact this; Ike Davis dropped to 1.3 from 2.5 due to injury.
I’ve decided to look at the moves at a whole and year to year scores. Alderson is a great place to start.
